So, before I begin mocking myself, can anyone tell me what this is? Or does everyone believe I have totally lost it with the lack of sound sleep that has plagued my existence these last few days? OR…whatever other theory that you want to throw in.
Well, I am going to let you ponder what it may be some more and share with you all a story. (Are you telling me you STILL can’t see what it is? I’ll give you a hint…this is an initial published draft, if I continue to work on it, it will look much better. As far as actual version, this is the 4th evolution…)
In a brief conversation yesterday with Monkeypup
, he was mentioning his artwork he did in Illustrator. I was saying messing around is a great way to learn any program and it has been a while since I personally have played with illustrator. That conversation planted a seed in my brain, that I really should work on making a new Monkeymage sig and playing in Illustrator might be a fun distraction.
So I started with making a cartoon of Monkeymage. After getting the initial sketchwork done, I decided that this was going to be a longer project than I initially thought. So I started working on the text-portion of the monkeymage logo instead. [HINT #2]
Came up with so possible cool text, but after playing around, I took a huge tangent and decided it might be fun to ambigram Monkeymage. Can you see it now? Do you even know what an ambigram is?
Quite simply, an ambigram is a graphic that not only spells out a word, but spells out the same word (usually, you can also make them spell out something different) if you view the graphic by fliping it 180 degrees, looking at it in a mirror, etc.
If you STILL can’t see it, the ambigram above spells out Monkeymage both the way it is posted and if you were to turn it 180 degrees. My main focus is still working on the ‘n’ that when flipped makes an ‘m’.
But, for a first veiwable draft, I am actually quite happy with it. I stumbled onto ambigrams back in college and found them quite amazing. From time to time, I will dabble with a new one. It takes a lot of focus and creativity to come up with a way to design an ambigram. It is also a fantastic distraction…when one is looking at trying to clear their head.
So, if you STILL can’t see it, then I guess my ambigram is not nearly as good as I thought it was. After looking at it and morphing it for as long as I did, all I can see now is Monkeymage when I look at it…lol
If you think this is the neatest thing since Monkeypup’s latest scientology post and would like to go about making your own, I will post some steps you might want to take in making one.
