The Chappelle Theory!
So this is a website that details one man’s theory (based on his piecing together of events) of what happened to cause Dave Chappelle to run off to Africa. And it’s a doozy folks. It includes a coalition of some of the most powerful black people in America (and Whoopi Goldberg) joining forces as a group called “The Dark Crusaders”. The Dark Crusaders made it their mission to either force Chappelle to stop portraying black people in a negative light on his show or end his show all together.
If you believe this guy’s theory, you will be impressed with how long Chappelle ‘fought the power’ and resisted the threats made by the Crusaders. You will probably also be amazed to find out that Oprah Winfrey was willing to break into Chappelle’s house, with Louis Farrakhan’s thugs in tow no less, in order to really prove that she means business.
Is this guy completely nuts? Was Chappelle forced to abandon his show out of fear for his family’s safety by The Dark Crusaders? Or does this dude just have a lot of time on his hands?
Regardless, it’s good stuff.
On the serious tip…I miss you Dave Chappelle. Please come back and bring on the funny.

How is Chappelle’s Show any different than what Richard Pryor was doing in the 70s and 80s? I mean, putting a black face on Gene Wilder, etc? How is that any different? I loathe how some folks want to distance themselves from things which are perceived as racist. They may or may not be. It also is like Bill Cosby buying up the rights to the Our Gang the Little Rascals, so no t.v. network can air those movie shorts anymore because Buckwheat portrayed blacks poorly. To me, those movie shorts… they were just a bunch of kids doing what kids do.
I for one loved Chappelle, and much in the way that Carlos Mencia, everyone, not just blacks, were fair game to be poked at. In the course of those “militants” forcing him to stop his show, they are stifling a brilliant entertainer and social commenter, kinda like an irreverent, black Carlin.
